Tickets are now on sale for Little Gaddesden Drama Club’s latest production:
Waiting for God
a comedy by Michael Aitkens
Michael Aitkens’ Waiting for God, definitely not to be confused with Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, it is a sharply funny play. Michael Aitkens originally created Waiting for God as a sitcom for the BBC. It was very successful and ran for five series in the 1990s. However, Aitkens had originally imagined it as a stage play and that finally happened in 2017 when this spin off toured the UK. Asked whether you need to be a fan of the original TV series to enjoy the new play Aitkens replied, “No, it’s totally new. It’s a sort of love story using the same characters in the same location. They’re recognisable, but no, it’ll appeal to anybody – especially if you’ve had to cope with being over 50!”
