Little Gaddesden Book Club

Since Little Gaddesden Book Club was founded in 1998 we have read over 240 books!  Though we mainly read novels our interests also include non fiction, science fiction, biographies, short stories and poetry. Our very first book was “The Remains of the Day”  by Kazuo Ishiguro. On our 10th anniversary we voted “A Fine Balance” by Rohinton Mistry as our best read so far.

We have attended the Oxford and Althrop Literary Festivals.

To celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2018,  eight members travelled to India for the Jaipur Literature Festival!

The Book Club get together for a special meeting every summer to choose 11 books to read over the year, starting in September. We meet once a month in the Thomas Field Hall to discuss our book of the month. The member who proposed the book then submits their review to The Gaddesden Diary. By doing this we hope to keep you up to date with our choices and inspire your reading experiences.

At present we have eighteen members and the Club is closed to new membership.  There is however a waiting list and those interested in joining should contact Suzie Banerji for information.
