1st Little Gaddesden Scout Group
Mostly Outdoors since 1911
Our Scout Group thrive on fun and adventure, making new friends, and trying out different activities. The group of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts make the most of our exceptional surroundings, whether it is in and about Ashridge or a little further afield.
The Scout Group are based behind the Village Hall with our very own scout hut, Centenary Hall, built in 2007, although the Group first started in 1911.
Our meetings follow school term dates with age ranges below:
|Beaver Colony||Tuesday||6 – 8 years old|
|Cub Pack||Wednesday||8 – 10½ years old|
|Scout Troop||Friday||10½ – 14 years old|
All three sections make up a community of around 50 young people on their scouting journey. Our programmes are as diverse as ever whether it is visiting local historical locations, building dens, cooking outdoors, first aid training or playing games, they are learning all the time. There really is something for everyone.
Those activities add up to badges and our young people love showing these off. Starting with making the Scout Promise at an Investiture, young people then collect different types of badges for activities, challenges, and stages in learning.
Camping has always formed a part of the Group activities. Trips can include local areas and further afield too. In the recent past our Scouts have been as far as Isle of Scilly and the Lake District.
The Scout Group are well supported with an Executive Committee overseeing plans, Leaders undertake training and take part in events with other Scout Groups. Often our Group support local events too.
If you know a young person who has a curiosity about the world and do something a little different then contact LGScouts@icloud.com. The Group have a limited number of spaces, open to girls and boys from villages in and around Ashridge. Follow and engage with us on Instagram @1st_little_gaddesden_scouts.
